Violin2Viola was founded to help violinists who want to explore the beautiful sound of the viola and expand the range of possibilities in their lives as students, amateurs, professionals, and teachers. There are several ways to work with our renowned faculty.
PRECOLLEGE AND COLLEGE STUDENTS - STUDY WITH V2V FACULTY
Violinists who are interested in switching to viola for college may apply to our schools as a violist. If you're not entirely comfortable on viola repertoire yet, feel free to reach out to one of us individually for suggestions on appropriate repertoire or other strategies for applying as a recent or upcoming Violin2Viola switcher.
ATTEND A SUMMER FESTIVAL WITH V2V FACULTY
While not all of these festivals are official V2V residencies, any opportunity to work with our faculty enables you to work with teachers who have spent great thought and research on how to help violin players switch to viola. We work with longtime violists at these festivals but can also work with those who are interested in using the festival as a springboard for a new life as a violist.

TAKE PART IN OUR ONLINE WORKSHOP
V2V ONLINE WORKSHOP PARTNERS - These programs (and more in the works) will provide meaningful in-person viola experiences after completion of our online workshop. You must apply to the program separately as a violinist and at the discretion of the program, they will work with you to find viola experiences that are appropriate for you that work within the context of their program. If you want to participate fully 100% as a viola player, you would need to apply as a viola player to the program.
V2V FACULTY APPEARANCES - Not official V2V residencies, but an opportunity to work with our faculty
*All official Violin2Viola US residencies are sponsored by Shar Music. They generously provide free trial violas to all participants who need one for the duration of the festival.

- Violin2Viola Mini Workshop at Boston University Tanglewood Institute * with Nana Vaughn (during YAO program)
TAKE PART IN OUR ONLINE WORKSHOP
- Violin2Viola Online Workshop* with all three faculty - March 3, 2024. This can be a standalone program for anyone with an interest in learning viola. It can also serve as a Step One - introduction to viola; followed by Step Two - an in-person viola experience with one of our partner organizations below. Alternately, you can seek out your own viola experiences in your local area, such as youth orchestras, college programs, community orchestras, chamber music experiences, professional experiences if you are at that level, etc.
